About the role
Tetris Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join our team in Brisbane, QLD. This is a full time position that will see you play a crucial role in the maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment. The successful Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day mechanical maintenance and operations of equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems within the plant or facility. The position requires leadership skills to supervise and guide a team of mechanical technicians and ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of all mechanical equipment.
The Mechanical Supervisor will also be tasked with ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations, executing maintenance schedules, troubleshooting mechanical failures, and coordinating preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and optimize machinery performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervision & Leadership:
* Supervise and lead a team of mechanical fitters, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently.
* Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to mechanical staff.
* Assign tasks and monitor team performance to ensure targets are met.
* Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
* Oversee routine mechanical maintenance and repairs, ensuring all equipment operates at peak efficiency.
* Troubleshoot mechanical failures, diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions promptly.
* Manage corrective maintenance activities and support the planning of routine and preventive maintenance schedules.
* Safety Compliance & Reporting:
* Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and procedures.
* Monitor work practices to ensure safety standards are upheld and contribute to a safe working environment.
* Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including reports, work orders, and incident logs.
* Maintenance Management & Coordination:
* Coordinate mechanical repairs, upgrades, and installations in alignment with operational requirements.
* Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to ensure effective resolution of mechanical issues.
* Lead the planning and execution of mechanical system overhauls and shutdown activities.
* Inventory & Equipment Management:
* Oversee the inventory of spare parts, tools, and other mechanical materials.
* Ensure that stock levels are maintained, and inventory is tracked efficiently.
* Order parts and materials as required for maintenance and repair activities.
* Continuous Improvement:
* Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement cost-effective solutions.
* Assist in developing and improving preventive maintenance programs.
Stay up to date with the latest mechanical technologies and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
* Education:
* Mechanical Fitters trade or equivalent
* EWP license
* Forklift license
* White Card
* Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
* Experience in, manufacturing, conveyor systems, shredder/crushing, pneumatic applications is preferred.
* Skills:
* Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and machinery.
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
* Good leadership and team management skills.
* Knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and maintenance practices.
* Personal Attributes:
o Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
