About the role
The GIS Officer plays a vital role in the Geographical Information System (GIS) team and provides key project and technical support in the design, implementation and ongoing expansion of the GIS through:
* Data cleaning, validation and entry into the GIS.
* Supporting the ongoing maintenance and upgrades of the enterprise GIS platform.
* Undertaking spatial modelling and data analysis.
* Providing input into the long-term strategic implementation of new features and functionality of the GIS platform.
This role is a full-time, ongoing opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.
Key Responsibilities
* Capture and upload data to a range of asset management systems and processes.
* Provide technical support in the management, design and development of GIS infrastructure to support the use of web, desktop and mobile GIS applications.
* Engage with staff in the training and adoption of GIS software.
* Assist in the development of specialist map production and spatial analysis.
* Provide technical advice to our project managers to ensure adequate use and capture of spatial data during project delivery.
* Participate in the development and revision of policies and procedures by providing technical advice and support derived through investigative and analytical research and reviews.
Geographic services our team provide that you will be involved in:
* Create, edit and/or remove above ground assets
* GIS Maps and Widgets (i.e. Trace Widget used to determine shut off-valves and view impacted customers)
* Dial Before You Dig
* Build Over Easement Applications
* Flushing plans for our operations teams
* Aerial Imagery / Lidar Mapping for planning and development

Key Selection Criteria
1. Ability to analyse the quality of data, find and resolve issues and communicate recommendations with stakeholders.
2. Experience collecting data with the ability to gather geographic data from various sources including maps, satellite imagery, and field surveys.
3. Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and autonomously as required, prioritising a wide variety of requests and tasks to meet business outcomes.
4. Experience in the ESRI Enterprise platform (i.e. ArcGIS Pro and AutoCAD).
5. Knowledge and experience in the geospatial industry, particularly in relation to assets.

Position Information
* An attractive salary range of $78,527 to $88,313 plus 12% superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
* This is a full time, ongoing position.
* Successful applicants will be required to undertake pre-employment checks including a police check and/or pre-employment medical and functional testing where applicable.
