Queensland's court services are a crucial and fundamental cornerstone of civil society.
As the Queensland courts undergo a period of transformation and reform, this position presents an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of these changes.
DFV Integration Officers are part of the DFV Court Program, Specialist Courts and Programs (SCP), and provide input on behalf of Courts and Tribunals, Department of Justice, to the Cairns High Risk Team (HRT).
The HRT is a multi-agency response to domestic and family violence (DFV) and is one element of the integrated service response (ISR) to DFV.
This is an approach that ensures coordination of services and supports across government, non-government, and other community organisations.
Your Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain supportive relationships with government and non-government stakeholders.
Collaborate with services operating in the court, to drive any necessary court and stakeholder strategies that support integrated responses to DFV.
Facilitate and support the ongoing implementation of the common risk and assessment safety framework and information sharing protocols.
When appropriate, conduct risk assessments and respond accordingly, which may include referrals to the HRT.
Participate in the HRT meetings including any emergency, unplanned meetings.
Undertake objective systematic analysis of relevant information held by the registry and compile relevant information to inform a response by the HRT.
Liaise with registry staff to complete any actions relating to the Court which may arise from the HRT meetings and report outcomes to the HRT.
Inform and educate other HRT core members on the legal process and other policies and procedures that may affect the way DFV matters are dealt with by the Court.
Contribute to the continuous development and review of policies, procedures and protocols that support the courts response to DFV and its participation in the HRT/ISR processes and report back to the Specialist Courts and Programs on any matter that requires improvement.
Contribute to the ongoing development of best practice approaches to the court role on HRT and broader ISRs by participating in agency presentations with the ISR and regular information sessions with registry staff about HRT and the ISR.
Maintain accurate records in a computerised database to support the court response to the HRT and effective monitoring of matters before the HRT.
Support, contribute to and cultivate cultural capability within the operations of programs established under the Specialist Courts and Programs to assist vulnerable people coming into contact with the justice system.
Applications remain current for 12 months.
