Your New Role The Investment Tax team supports the Investment team in providing tax advice relating to the acquisition and management of the Fund's domestic and international investments across a number of unlisted investment asset classes (infrastructure, property, private equity and credit).In the role of Senior Associate, Investment Tax, you will:Lead and support transactions (tax due diligence, structuring) to ensure investments are within Aware Super's tax risk appetite and manage various stakeholder relationships;Provide ongoing tax advice, asset management and compliance support for the Fund's diverse investment portfolio ranging from build to rent platforms, agricultural assets, PPPs, to various private equity funds and co-investments;Contribute to a team culture that is high performing and supportive;Support various tax governance initiatives; andKeep up to date with legislative changes and assess any potential impact to the Fund's new and existing investments.You will be supporting the overall tax strategy by protecting both the members' returns and Aware Super's tax profile and ensuring readiness for regulatory engagement. In addition, you will have the opportunity to;Gain exposure to a wide range of investments, both domestic and international, especially as Aware Super has an international office in London;Continue to develop professionally through the fortnightly internal tax training program, attending industry tax conference and other professional development opportunities offered by Aware Super;Develop a network within the wider industry and investment tax group.How do you exceed our expectations? To succeed in this role, you will have a minimum of 6 years' experience specialising in tax, with a focus on investment tax (deals/transactions/international tax advisory) within an accounting/law firm, superannuation, funds management and/or banking environment.You will hold formal tertiary qualifications in commerce and/or law based disciplines (e.g. Bachelor of Commerce/Business/Economics/LLB or equivalent) - a postgraduate qualification in taxation and/or accounting (e.g. Master of Taxation/Laws and/or CA) would be highly regarded.You should be able to demonstrate:Strong analytical and problem solving skills to solve complex tax problems;Ability to adapt to complex and constantly changing transaction timeframe and competing demands;Extensive knowledge of Australian tax laws and excellent research and interpretation skills with the ability to produce high quality, easy to understand, tax advice;Knowledge of foreign tax laws, double taxation agreements and rules for common investment vehicles in foreign jurisdictions;Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal, written and listening) skills and strong negotiation and influencing skills with all levels;Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail;Knowledge and experience across investment classes gained through either direct investment management is highly desirable (superannuation fund experience is not required).Employee Experience We understand that not everyone works in the same ways.
