Senior Lecturer Education Support Job Summary

The Senior Lecturer Education Support and Early Childhood Education and Care role is a key position in leading the delivery of certificate III and IV in Education Support and Certificate III and Diploma in Early Childhood and Education and Care qualifications to Indigenous Australians within the context of Batchelor Institute's role as Australia's leading First Nations Tertiary Education and Research provider.

This senior lecturer will manage accountabilities for relevant student outcomes, financial budgets, VET Training products, and relevant projects underpinned by the Batchelor Institute Both-ways principles of practice. They will also improve individual and team performance in the Domains of Work and Work Skills. In addition, the Senior Lecturer will assist the Director of VET Business Operations with planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting VET requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership in Teaching & Resource Development: Reports to the Director of VET Business operations regarding the quality delivery and maintenance of VET programs at an approved standard (ASQA).
2. Lead staff in the development of skills to consult with identified regional/school/early childhood teams to plan the semester study program and map the required assessment tasks.
3. Management of departmental operations including leadership, administration, delivery, and assessment of courses; and budget and human resource management and compliance with Batchelor Institute philosophy, policies, and Academic Rules.
4. Development and maintenance of appropriate teaching resources for VET courses.
5. Active participation in critical analysis of educational delivery with staff (validation, moderation, and monitoring), student follow-up, and the development and revision of curriculum.
6. Participation in staff selection (including chairing of selection and interview panels), staff orientation, and development, and staff quality management processes.

Administration:

7. Monitor with staff the assessment of student performance, including moderation of grades, and maintenance of Batchelor Institute records of students' academic progression.

Advocacy:

8. Maintain close liaison with relevant industry partners including external organisations and agencies.
9. Ensure personal and professional development is continued and participation of research and allied activities within the VET Division as well as pursuing an individual research development program in areas relating to Education.

Selection Criteria:

">
10. A tertiary qualification equivalent to five (5) years of Higher Education in Education or a related area relevant to the academic discipline field of this position preferably at Masters level or higher and/or equivalent qualification and/or substantial experience relevant to the position, and/or professional registration within the Northern Territory.
11. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116).
12. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and sensitively within historical, social, political, and cultural environments similar to those of Indigenous Australian communities and organisations of the Northern Territory in the context of education and children's services.
13. Demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to the development of teaching and learning programs and resources in accordance with the relevant national training packages, responding effectively to the learning needs of adult Indigenous Australians.
14. Demonstrated capacity to manage the associated administrative tasks related to the delivery of VET including ensuring internal and external Quality Assurance processes are met, relevant administrative responsibilities, and HR matters.
15. Demonstrated ability to manage culturally diverse teams effectively and provide leadership and undertake a range of management tasks including management of program budgets and performance management of staff within the team.
16. Demonstrated commitment to undertaking professional development in areas of expertise and demonstrated capacity to undertake research and development projects.
17. Must be able to undertake travel throughout the Northern Territory in a light aircraft, must possess a Northern Territory C class drivers' licence with experience of driving on unformed roads, and must be prepared to stay in a range of accommodation available to the Batchelor Institute staff, including camping out.
