MGI Australia is a producer of clinical high-throughput gene sequencers, and its multi-omics platforms include genetic sequencing, medical imaging, and laboratory automation.
Due to the continued business expansion, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Biotechnologist to join our team on a full-time basis, based at Brisbane office.
- **Your duties as Biotechnologist include but are not limited to the following**:_
- Conduct research into pulse genetics and genomics, including high-throughput genotyping DNA/RNA sequencing using next-generation sequencing/genotyping technologies
- Maintenance and operation of key platform technologies, along with laboratory-based data generation and analysis
- Responsible for follow-up of laboratory biosafety and information security to ensure laboratory staff and data safety
- Monitor and report scientific progress to ensure that appropriate Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures are followed
- Design and set up the laboratory equipment to conduct and monitor experiments
- Develop new research procedures
- Collect, study and test samples
- Project management across our ever-growing pipeline of experiments
- Manage / maintain the material list in 3Q and non-3Q lists
- Comply with company SOPs and strictly adheres to biosecurity policies and procedures to ensure QA and QC requirements are met
- Improving the breadth, quality and efficiency of existing genomic analysis pipelines
- Undertaking translational research with an emphasis on developing biological insights, _when required_
- Staying abreast on advances in genomics and next generation sequencing technology in general as well as maintaining knowledge about clinical genomic testing
- Next generation sequencing data analysis using computer programming
- A degree in Biological Engineering/Science or an equivalent science qualification is required
- At least two (2) years' experience in a biological molecular genetics laboratory or in a highly relevant field
- Knowledge and experience in genetics and genomics with special emphasis on next generation sequencing, high-throughput genotyping
- Practical experience in performing second and third-generation sequencing
- Experience in managing and performing laboratory-based activities from multiple research projects. Project management skills
- Knowledge and demonstrated practical experience of the software required to manage large datasets obtained from high throughput genotyping and sequencing experiments
- Experience in scientific writing and preparation of scientific reports
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to policies and practices and understand quality management system requirements
- Display initiative, problem-solving and analytical skills
Skills in liaising with different department in HQ to implement various workflow and facilitate technological transfer
**Salary**: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
