Roma Republic is seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team. This is a full-time, permanent position with a commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience.
About Us: We are a local community café for all, known for our commitment to using fresh, local Western Australian produce. Our menu is a fusion of traditional techniques and modern flair, and we pride ourselves on a collaborative and dynamic kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and cook a range of dishes on the menu, ensuring consistency and high quality.
* Manage a section of the kitchen (e.g., grill, sauté, or pastry) during service.
* Assist the Head Chef with menu development, including daily specials.
* Maintain strict hygiene standards and a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
* Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory management.
* Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
* Ensure all food preparation and storage practices comply with Western Australian health and safety regulations.
* Adhere to food cost controls and wastage minimisation.
* Collaborate effectively with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service.
Skills and Qualifications:
* A formal qualification in commercial cookery, such as a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or an equivalent international qualification).
* A minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment.
* Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, including food safety and hygiene protocols.
* Creativity and passion for culinary arts.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Availability to work a flexible roster, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
