The role involves fitting, integrating and diagnosing electrical and electronic systems across vehicles and mobile platforms. Some builds are repeatable, others require thought and adaptation. This suits someone who enjoys technical work, takes pride in how things are built, and wants to work somewhere that backs good operators with the right tools.
Further tasks/responsibilities/experience required include:
* Practical, hands-on operator who values a clean, organised workspace rather than heavy industrial or mining environments. Vehicles are predominantly new or near new with little to no mechanical based work.
* Proven hands-on experience installing aftermarket or specialised accessories such as communications systems, sensors, control units, power management systems, GPS, telemetry, cameras or similar embedded devices.
* Ability to work with low-voltage DC systems, AUX power systems and distribution, shielding, and interference considerations.
* Strong diagnostic capability - comfortable fault-finding DC electrical systems, interpreting schematics, using diagnostic tools, multi-meters, OBD II readers, and test equipment (not just plug-and-play installs).
* Open to learning to new skills (if no previous experience in satellite communications, IP networking).
* Comfortable following build procedures but equally capable of dynamic thinking when required.
* High standard of workmanship – clean and tidy installations, disciplined labelling and the ability to produce DC schematics.
Not all work will be vehicle based. Enjoy a mix of different challenges building a variety of the group's portable communication solutions in their new, clean, air-conditioned workshop.
