Role Overview
As the Executive Director, Access and Clinical Operations, you will lead the strategic, operational and cultural direction of how patients access and move through RCH. You will oversee critical operational services and champion hospital‑wide improvements in efficiency, coordination and patient experience.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving on the Executive Team, this high‑impact role is central to how RCH delivers timely, safe and effective care. You will play a pivotal role in aligning systems, people, infrastructure with demand, ensuring care is delivered in the right place, at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic and operational leadership across the Access and Clinical Operations portfolio
* Drive sustained improvement in access, flow and hospital performance across emergency, inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory services
* Oversee key services including Patient Flow, Bed Management, Timely Access, Pharmacy, Pathology, Medical Imaging and Ambulatory Services
* Lead planning for peak demand and surge capacity, ensuring effective bed and resource utilisation
* Deliver the Access and Flow Master Plan and osoba Central Access Command Hub for coordinated care delivery
* Embed data‑driven decision‑making and operational intelligence into daily hospital performance
* Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
* Represent RCH in key forums and build partnerships with Safer Care Victoria, Department of Health and other health services
Candidate Profile
* Extensive leadership experience in a complex hospital or health service environment
* Proven track record in access and flow, service redesign or clinical operations
* Strong analytical, strategic and problem‑solving capabilities
* Experience working in matrixed environments where influence and collaboration drive outcomes
* High‑level_Invalid stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills
* Tertiary qualifications in health management, nursing, medicine or a related field
* (Desirable/non‑mandatory) Postgraduate qualifications and/or experience in paediatric or tertiary healthcare
* Alignment with RCH values and a genuine commitment to family‑centred care
