Your new role
As the Purchasing Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and continuous operation of the plant by sourcing, managing, and maintaining stock for consumables and mechanical parts.
You will be responsible for:
Reviewing and managing stock levels across mechanical and consumables stores.
Comparing and evaluating supplier pricing and offers.
Conducting bi‑annual and ad‑hoc stocktakes and resolving discrepancies.
Raising purchase orders, monitoring deliveries, receipting goods, and reconciling orders.
Working closely with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery.
Liaising with Accounts to ensure accurate input of goods received for timely payments.
Managing procurement systems such as MEX and/or Oracle.
Ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
Operating a forklift, loading/unloading trucks, and undertaking general warehouse duties.
Maintaining housekeeping standards and supporting safety practices across the site.
Carrying out other tasks as directed by management.
This role reports directly to the Procurement Manager and works closely with Supervisors, Maintenance teams, Production staff, Finance & Administration, and external suppliers.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered, you will bring:
Essential:
A valid Forklift Licence
Experience in purchasing or procurement
Strong organisational and planning abilities
Excellent communication skills
High attention to detail and strong time management skills
Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
Comfortable in a fast paced, changing environment
Experience working with suppliers and contractors
Desirable:
Warehouse operations experience
Experience with Oracle
Mechanical aptitude
Personal attributes:
A positive work ethic and collaborative mindset
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Adaptability, reliability, and a proactive approach to problem solving
You must also comply with the mandatory Q Fever vaccination requirement.
