About the Role
As a Construction Cadet, you will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Contract Administrators to support the successful delivery of projects. This role offers exposure to tendering, cost control, scheduling, and site operations, providing a strong foundation for your future career in construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation of tender packages, subcontract documentation, evaluations, and progress payments
- Compile reports and process subcontractor and supplier claims
- Take meeting minutes and follow up on action items
- Support preparation of Operation & Maintenance Manuals and Project Management Plans
- Assist with document control and administrative tasks
- Attend project worksites to learn and assist the team
- Communicate and negotiate with trades and suppliers
- Prepare work orders and purchase orders
- Assist with cost control, forecasting, and scheduling
- Observe site works to understand quality, cost, safety, and performance standards
- Participate in planning and organising projects for optimal efficiency
- Maintain positive relationships with employees and customers
- Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with WHS policies
Skills & Experience
- Current driver's licence
- Completion of 2 years full-time Bachelor of Construction Management degree
- Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Enthusiastic attitude toward the construction industry
- Ability to analyse data and make sound decisions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and systems
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Passion for safety and quality
