About the role We are seeking an up and coming Junior Gateway Engineer with an AGSVA Security Clearance to provide day-to-day guidance to the Gateway team members to meet routine security obligations. Your role is to ensure adherence to IS-SPP (Information Security Strategic Policy Framework), Defence Security Policies and frameworks and other relevant security guidelines.This role would suit a network security administrator with a number of years experience and are ready to take the next step forward. Basic understanding and experience of switches, routers and firewalls is essential.About you Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Monitor network data streams and event log data to ensure that Intrusion attempts are detected, investigated and prevented. Monitor network data streams and event log data to ensure that gateway operations are optimised and maintained and were identified. Improve Perform Vulnerability Management to ensure that all vulnerabilities to the network are identified and treated in accordance with set guidelines. Ensure that service availability meets or exceeds customer service availability guidelines. Maintains agreed security records and documentation. Investigates identified security breaches in accordance with established procedures and recommends any required actions. Assists users in defining their access rights and privileges, and administers logical access controls and security systems. Maintains security records and documentation.Cover areas of: Monitoring, Incident/Service Requests/ Process improvements and Development and Security ComplianceRequirements:AGSVA Security ClearanceNetwork experience (a CCNA is not required) switches, routers, SNAT/NATGeneral Firewall experience preferably a mixtures of Stateful and Layer 7Firewalls Proxy experience Solaris or Linux/Unix experience understanding of commands and concepts is requiredMail experience understanding the setup and maintenance of Servers and clientsTroubleshooting experience - the ability to perform root cause analysis on network/computer issues on clients, servers and network equipment. A general understanding of Computer/Network Security Policies and enforcement Load Balancing experience.Experience in configuring and supporting Apache Experience in supporting a DNS environment.
