GRDC is responsible for planning, investing and overseeing research, development and extension for the grains sector in Australia. They meet the evolving needs of grain growers with a vision to be regarded as the grower's "RD&E department." The Opportunity
GRDC is seeking a Manager, Grains Sustainability to lead, coordinate and enable the GRDC's approach to sustainability across the Australian grains industry. This is developing and managing the RDE investments across the sustainability portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Manager Enabling Technologies, you will be providing strategic advice, investment‐level analysis, management and industry engagement across the full sustainability spectrum, including natural capital, greenhouse gas emissions, climate resilience, biodiversity, social and human capital, circularity, energy and biofuels along with the metrics and governance that underpin trusted outcomes. It is a key enabling role, ensuring sustainability is embedded across grain production systems, RD&E investments, industry and ag sector level partnerships.
Responsibilities
* Design, delivery and performance of R&D investments
* Procurement and contract management
* Stakeholder engagement and collaboration, including the integration of technologies, new and novel concepts within related fields of scientific research and developing ideas with industry stakeholders
About You
* Understanding of sustainability concepts and their agricultural applications in Australian grain production systems
* Experience in policy, industry engagement, technology development or investment environments
* Experience in design, delivery and management of RDE projects
* Ability to work closely with a wide range of stakeholders
* Ability to influence and communicate technical information clearly
* Tertiary qualifications in Agricultural, environmental science, engineering or related discipline with preference for higher degree research training
Strong analytical skills, critical assessment and attention to detail are required.
There is travel in the role, some out of hours work required, valid driver's licence and Australian citizenship are required.
