Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks (GBR&MP) Region are excited to share an incredible opportunity for two x OO6 Ranger in Charge to join the team on a Temporary basis.
As one of the six regions of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the GBR&MP Region delivers conservation and management activities across land and sea including implementing the Reef Joint Field Management Programme in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Additionally, the Region oversees the state's southern marine parks – Great Sandy Marine Park and Moreton Bay Marine Park.
There are two OO6 Ranger in Charge positions within the Far North Management Unit (FNMU) of the Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks Region – the first focuses on Infrastructure and the second on Natural Resource Management (NRM).
Ranger in Charge (Infrastructure)
This opportunity leads a dynamic team responsible for maintaining and developing critical infrastructure across the spectacular Far North Management Unit. You will oversee the planning and delivery of essential assets and facilities that support park operations and visitor experiences, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and to the highest standard.
Ranger in Charge (Natural Resource Management)
As the Ranger in Charge (NRM), you'll manage and protect the unique natural and cultural values of the Far North Management Unit, delivering high-quality conservation outcomes through strategic natural resource management, fire, pest and weed control programs. You will guide a skilled team in implementing innovative land and sea management practices while collaborating with Traditional Owners, communities and partner agencies.
Role Focus
Plan and deliver programs and projects: Oversee the development and implementation of annual work programs and complex park management projects, including infrastructure maintenance, resource management and environmental initiatives.
Lead teams and operations: Manage staff, coordinate resources and ensure effective delivery of work plans, compliance activities and emergency response operations.
Engage stakeholders and communities: Build strong relationships with landholders, government bodies, industry groups, Traditional Owners and the public through consultation, education and customer engagement.
Ensure governance and cultural responsibility: Oversee administrative, financial and reporting processes while fostering an inclusive workplace that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultural outcomes.
Qualifications
An automatic/unrestricted manual driver's licence.
