Role Summary
The Director Inclusion works collaboratively with high level counterparts in Communities, Ministerial offices and State Government agencies to deliver the government’s policy priorities, identify long‑term challenges and opportunities, and deliver contemporary policy, strategy, and legislation.
Represent the Department of Communities and State Government on senior officer working groups, Closing the Gap Policy Partnership Groups, and other national strategy committees.
Accountable for stewarding the development and implementation of Ministerial priorities and whole‑of‑government high‑level long‑term human service policy, grants policy, pilot programs, and public education programs in the areas of women’s interests, seniors and ageing, youth, LGBTQIA+, volunteering and carers.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate Ministerial Advisory Councils: Ministerial Youth Advisory Council, Carers Advisory Council (WA), Volunteering Community Reference Group.
* Represent the Department on committees: Stronger Together Implementation Group.
* Lead Government reform priorities, including election commitments.
* Develop and implement high‑level, long‑term strategies across multiple portfolios in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
* Steward service delivery systems through strategic commissioning and service design.
* Support front‑line services via workforce development, operational policy and sector coordination.
* Support legislative change through targeted policy development.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should demonstrate:
* Extensive experience in senior policy and strategy development within the public or social service sector.
* Expertise in human services policy, grants or pilot program design.
* Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Commitment to integrity, accountability, governance and transparency.
* Experience leading multi‑stakeholder advisory groups and national strategy collaborations.
