Salary
$98,133 – $111,395 per annum. Salary is in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025.

Period of Employment
Fixed‐term, full‐time (part‐time hours available), working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing 11 January 2027 to 10 January 2028. Opportunities for 24‐month appointments may arise from this selection process.

Launceston General Hospital, Northwest Regional & Mersey Community Hospital, Royal Hobart Hospital.
Duties
The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) is responsible for the day‐to‐day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the hospital (or rural facility). The RMO provides after‐hours emergency cover and participates in rotations to rural practice sites across the state. Rotations available for 2027 include:
* General Medicine
* General Surgery
* Orthopaedics
* Emergency Medicine
* Anaesthetics
* ICU
* Obstetrics & Gynaecology
* Paediatrics
* Psychiatry
* General Practice
RMO work at South Western and North Western campuses may involve travelling between facilities and shift work as required.
Essential Requirements
* Registration with the Medical Board of Australia and eligibility for employment as a Resident Medical Officer.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable).
* Maintain all registrations and licences current and valid; notify employer of any changes or criminal convictions.
* Undergo pre‐employment checks including conviction checks for violence, sex‐related offences, serious drug offences, dishonesty, identification and prior disciplinary action.
Desirable Requirements
Current Driver's Licence (if applicable to allocated role).
