About the Role
As Assistant Director, Finance at the Productivity Commission, you will support the Director of Finance and Office Services to deliver accurate financial reporting, ensure compliance with the Australian Government financial management framework, and drive business improvement. Leading a team of three, you'll provide trusted advice to stakeholders across the Commission while overseeing budgets, monthly reporting, and annual financial statements.
Key Duties
* Prepare and deliver timely financial reporting, internal budgets, monthly management reports, and annual financial statements
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislative, financial and administrative frameworks
* Provide accurate advice and guidance to team members on finance, compliance and reporting matters
* Partner with business areas to support operations and resource planning
* Identify and implement improvements to systems, processes and procedures
* Draft costings for New Policy Proposals and contribute to the development of operational policies
* Maintain accurate and accessible records in accordance with Commission requirements
* Manage and develop a team of three direct reports
Qualifications
* Accounting/Finance degree with CPA or CA qualification (or working towards)
* Thorough knowledge of management and financial accounting practices and the Australian Government financial management framework
* Proficiency in Financial Management Information Systems (experience with TechOne highly regarded)
* Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and the ability to think critically to solve problems
* Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment
* Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with a range of stakeholders
* Experience leading or mentoring a small team
