Faculty Operations Manager
Faculty of Medicine & Health

Fixed-term, full-time parental leave replacement until the 2 April 2027. The temporary role can be offered as a fixed-term appointment (external applicants) or as a secondment opportunity (UNE current staff.)
$ 128,529 to $137,444 per annum, (HEO9) plus 17% Employer Superannuation
Salary packaging options are available
20 days family and domestic violence leave available per annum
20 days gender affirmation leave per annum
10 days Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural and ceremonial leave per annum
5 weeks annual leave plus Christmas week shutdown, per annum
Armidale based role. Free on campus parking

About the role

This role offers an opportunity for an experienced operations professional to play a pivotal role in shaping the success of one of UNE's faculties. Working closely with the Dean and senior academic leaders, the Faculty Operations Manager provides strategic advice and operational leadership across finance, workforce planning, governance, risk and performance.

In this role, you will provide support to the Faculty staff to assist in providing high-quality teaching, research and industry engagement, while driving improvements to systems, processes and ways of working. You will collaborate extensively across the University and with external partners, using data and insight to enable informed decision-making and sustainable outcomes.

Suited to a proactive and collaborative leader, this position offers the opportunity to work at a whole-of-University level, contribute to major strategic initiatives, and make a tangible impact on how faculties operate and deliver on UNE's strategic plan.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have senior-level experience in operational and strategic management within a complex organisation, supported by strong analytical and financial management skills and a proven ability to oversee large, multifaceted budgets. You will demonstrate highly developed leadership, communication and negotiation skills, enabling you to build trusted relationships with senior academic leaders, professional staff and external partners. Operating with sound judgement, integrity and resilience, you will be comfortable working in ambiguity and influencing at a whole-of-organisation level to support high-quality teaching, research and industry engagement.

This position is a parental leave replacement, and the appointment is subject to the staff member's leave arrangements. Should the staff member on parental leave vary their return-to-work arrangements, this contract may be terminated earlier by giving four weeks' notice.

Current UNE Staff: In taking up this appointment, the appointee will need to seek approval from the Head of Cost Centre to be released from their substantive position for the duration of the secondment.
