Senior Tracking Systems Engineer

Program Overview
This position supports a major U.S. Department of Defense space architecture program focused on next-generation ground operational systems. The work continues ongoing Ground Segment development efforts across multiple tranches of a proliferated satellite architecture.
Program efforts operate at three levels:
* Enterprise Level – Integration across Ground, Space, and User segments
* Ground Segment Level – Development and integration of ground entry points, operational nodes, and associated ground networks
* Ground Management & Integration Level – Focused on Tranche 2 ground systems, operational tracking, and integration capabilities
This role directly contributes to mission-critical ground system architecture supporting advanced satellite tracking and operational mission execution.
Role & Responsibilities
As a Senior Tracking Systems Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional engineering team responsible for developing and deploying advanced ground operational systems.
Primary focus areas include:
* Decomposing high-level requirements into system architecture and interface definitions
* Translating space-ground concepts into executable ground software/system designs
* Supporting mission scheduling (pre-planned and ad-hoc)
* Developing satellite situational awareness capabilities
* Supporting tracking systems, including IR payload data transport, handling, and analysis
* Contributing technical leadership across the full systems development lifecycle
This role requires strong architectural thinking, mission-level systems engineering expertise, and the ability to influence technical direction across teams.
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related STEM field
2. 10+ years of relevant experience
OR
Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience
3. Agile development experience preferred
Preferred Experience
* Tracking mission design experience
* Satellite communications knowledge
* Experience with ground scheduling systems
* Experience decomposing complex space-ground architectures
* Strong communication and technical leadership skills
Clearance Requirements
* Active TS/SCI preferred
* Must be eligible to obtain TS/SCI
* U.S. Citizenship required
* Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
