Overview
The Northern Territory's best fishing experience!
Cobourg Fishing Safaris is looking for an experienced fishing guide/skipper to join the team @ Cobourg Coastal Camp (Cobourg Peninsula, NT).
Heralded as one of the best fishing destinations in Australia, the remote Cobourg Peninsula is only an hour's flight from Darwin. Cobourg Fishing Safaris offer accommodated (fly in/fly out) fishing charters from Cobourg Coastal Camp. Catering for a maximum of just 12 fishos (between 3 boats) at any one time they offer a very exclusive fishing experience.
Your job is to lead fishing tours on the Cobourg Peninsula from our base known as Cobourg Coastal Camp. Guest fishing packages on average are 3-6days in length with 1-4 people per boat. Guides generally have five working days on the boat a week with the remaining days at camp.
On days that are not essentially 'guided fishing working days' you may be required to provide maintenance to your fishing vessel, transfer guests to the airstrip, help out with duties at camp etc. This is all part of living and operating in a remote camp where everyone chips in where needed. On request, there are also opportunities to fly back to Darwin between fishing tours.
Accommodation and meals are provided at camp as part of the package.
General duties include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
* Preparing fishing rigs and equipment for departure
* Fishing; barra fishing, flats fishing, trawling, jigging, bait and surface fishing
* Training, educating and demonstrating fishing techniques for specific environments and fish

* Catching, releasing and preparing fish humanly
* Packing and storing fish appropriately onboard
* Providing commentary on the wildlife, history, culture and environments of the Cobourg Peninsula
* Enjoying a beer and a yarn with the crew at the end of the day
The position is for this coming season (Beginning of April until the end of May) with opportunities to work in the build-up (October & November).
Induction (including several days out on the water) will be part of the package and we will fly the successful applicant to camp at on April 2nd.
Qualifications
* Must have a minimum of a Coxswains Certificate and be able to obtain a NT Fishing Operator licence within a month.
Benefits
* Accommodation and meals are provided at camp as part of the package.
* Fly in/fly out operation with camp-based duties and opportunities to transfer guests to the airstrip.
* Opportunities to fly back to Darwin between fishing tours on request.
