This newly created role represents a defining opportunity to establish and lead the Australian finance function for a $200 million industrial equipment distribution group entering its next phase of growth.
With the business expanding through strategic acquisitions and portfolio integration, the Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in shaping the finance capability that supports operational scale, transparency, and performance.
Working closely with the Group CFO and the remote finance team based offshore you will assume full ownership of financial operations in Australia — from reporting and compliance through to cashflow and governance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Governance
* Deliver accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting for Australian entities.
* Ensure adherence to Australian accounting standards, tax compliance, and audit requirements.
* Partner with the global finance team to align processes, policies, and controls with group standards.
* Implement and maintain a robust internal control and risk management framework.
Acquisition Integration
* Lead financial onboarding, and integration of newly acquired entities.
* Standardise reporting, accounting policies, and systems across the portfolio.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
* Oversee the month-end close, management reporting, and statutory accounts process.
* Deliver clear commentary and insights on variances, performance, and key trends.
* Own budget preparation, forecasting, and cashflow planning.
* Drive visibility of business unit performance, cost control, and profitability metrics.
Systems & Process Improvement
* Lead automation and process simplification initiatives across the full finance cycle.
* Drive system alignment between Australia and New Zealand, ensuring data integrity and reporting accuracy.
* Support the future rollout of ERP upgrades or transitions aligned with group digital strategy.
About You
* CA or CPA qualified, with 10 + years' experience in senior finance leadership, including Financial Controller roles.
* Proven success building or scaling finance teams within industrial, manufacturing, or engineering environments.
* Strong experience in acquisition integration and multi-entity reporting.
* Hands-on operator with exceptional attention to detail, systems knowledge, and commercial acumen.
* Pragmatic and adaptable — able to operate between strategic oversight and transactional detail.
* Confident communicator who builds trust quickly with global, operational, and executive stakeholders.
