We're seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Welding Fabrication Inspector. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of welding and fabrication processes.
Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in dynamic environments. You will be working closely with our team to conduct inspections of raw materials, welds, fabricated assemblies, and finished products to ensure compliance with project specifications and relevant standards.
You will also review and interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and inspection test plans to guide accurate and effective inspection activities. Additionally, you will perform visual welding inspections and monitor fabrication processes to maintain quality assurance throughout production.
As a key member of our team, you will document inspection outcomes, maintain traceability, raise non-conformity reports where required, and communicate findings and concerns to the Project Manager.
Your excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and methodical approach to problem-solving will enable you to excel in this role.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct inspections of raw materials, welds, fabricated assemblies, and finished products to ensure compliance with project specifications and relevant standards.
2. Review and interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and inspection test plans to guide accurate and effective inspection activities.
3. Perform visual welding inspections and monitor fabrication processes to maintain quality assurance throughout production.
4. Document inspection outcomes, maintain traceability, raise non-conformity reports where required, and communicate findings and concerns to the Project Manager.
Requirements
* A certificate 10 with certifications in VT, MT, PT, UT, or welding inspection (e.g., CSWIP, WTIA) considered highly advantageous.
* 3-7 years' experience in quality control within fabrication or heavy engineering environments.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
* Solid understanding of welding standards such as ASME IX, AWS D1.1, and applicable Australian Standards, along with strong knowledge of fabrication codes with hands-on experience using inspection tools, test equipment, and working within quality management systems.
