About The Role

This role is responsible for conducting investigations, inspections, and approvals under state and local laws. You'll work across a broad range of areas including:

* Animal management, including the handling of animals and promoting responsible pet ownership
* Public health and safety
* Overgrown properties
* Unauthorised use of Council land and footpath obstructions
* Other Local Law matters

You'll be part of a collaborative team that supports Council's purpose of Growing Townsville, delivering outcomes aligned with our Corporate Plan and community expectations.

About You

Townsville City Council is looking for someone with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and local laws, who can confidently investigate and compile evidence for enforcement and prosecution. The ideal candidate works well independently, makes sound decisions, and is comfortable handling domesticated animals, including potentially aggressive dogs. They communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal forms, demonstrate effective conflict resolution and descalation skills, and are capable of working outdoors. Flexibility to work after-hours and within a rostered schedule is also essential.
