**Purpose of role**
The overall purpose of this role is to execute the National Merchandise strategic activity within determined product categories and provide direction to the key personnel within the business. This role will introduce the employee to the functionality of a National Buyer's role with the aim through experience to manage a larger portfolio in the future.
**Specific Responsibilities**
- Manage a small portfolio of National suppliers and perform the following tasks
- Negotiate supplier terms
- Negotiate promotional program participation
- Manage new line requests and range reviews
- Review cost changes
- Review income reports
- Identify product segment gaps within major FS customers
- Assist with monthly promotional brochure creation
- Manage the rollout of Own Brand commodity products
- Assist with National income analysis and preferred supplier listings by category
- Understand all facets of the Merchandise Team roles
- Attend supplier meetings as required with each of the National Buyers
- Other duties as requested by Group Merchandise Manager
