About The Role
As a Food Services Assistant, you will deliver high‐quality hospitality and food services to patients, residents and visitors in a timely, courteous and hygienic manner. Working within dietary requirements and individual food preferences, you will support safe and efficient meal service while ensuring compliance with the Barwon Health Food Safety Plan, the Food Safety Act, and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and serve meals, beverages, and snacks in a fast‐paced environment, including basic food preparation and reheating menu items.
* Deliver and distribute meals to patients, staff, and service areas while ensuring orders are accurate and dietary requirements are met.
* Operate café and retail equipment including coffee machines, Point of Sale (POS), EFTPOS, dishwashing, and hot holding units.
* Maintain high standards of food safety, infection control, cleanliness, and waste management across food preparation and dining areas.
* Support daily foodservice operations through stock replenishment, function setup, team collaboration, and assisting with training new staff members.
What We're Looking For
* Recent Food Handling competency training, with the ability to follow established food safety, hygiene, and workplace procedures.
* Previous experience in food service, healthcare, or aged care environments, with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
* Physically capable of undertaking foodservice duties in a fast‐paced environment, with the ability to engage respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
