This position sites within the groups construction division which delivers turnkey solutions for complex, high profile projects across the infrastructure, construction, mining, and ports sectors.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our client's Tomago head office team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for large-scale infrastructure and construction projects, and input into crane and haulage services attached to construction projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-driven professional with strong technical knowledge, analytical ability, and commercial acumen to contribute to the continued growth and success of the construction division.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for SMP (structural steel, mechanical, piping) and civil/structural foundation works; develop pricing models; conduct benchmarking and value engineering.
Analyse documentation, drawings, and specifications; prepare compliant tender submissions with detailed schedules and methodologies.
Source, negotiate, and maintain strong relationships to ensure competitive pricing and reliable delivery.
Work with operational and commercial teams to align estimates with project objectives.
Assess project risks and opportunities, ensuring all estimates meet company, contractual, and industry standards.
Support the refinement of estimating systems and processes; contribute insights from completed projects to improve future accuracy.
To Succeed in This Role
5+ years' experience as a Construction Estimator in the NSW/Australian market.
Proven expertise in SMP estimating with experience in civil/structural foundations highly regarded.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to evaluate risks and opportunities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with project management software.
A tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying (desirable).
Willingness to travel to sites across Newcastle, Muswellbrook, and Port Macquarie when required.
