Overview
SWAMS is seeking an experienced Out of Home Care (OOHC) Coordinator to develop and grow the SWAMS suite of OOHC programs. This role requires strong management skills and leadership qualities to support Aboriginal families and children in care.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the OOHC program to ensure seamless coordination and execution.
* Lead and manage a majority Aboriginal team, providing guidance and support to achieve program objectives.
* Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to discuss OOHC outcomes, identify success factors and address barriers.
* Develop and implement policies, procedures and communication protocols tailored to program needs.
* Prepare comprehensive financial and program reports for senior management and stakeholders.
* Respond to critical incidents, debrief staff and provide clinical supervision for the team.
* Increase the carer pool through recruitment of Kinship and Foster Carers.
* Continue to grow the OOHC program through new avenues provided by the Department of Communities.
Essential Criteria
* 5+ years experience working in the Out of Home Care sector.
* Previous Coordinator/Management experience.
* Deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and the impacts of government policies on Aboriginal people.
* Ability to work collaboratively with the Department of Communities and other Aboriginal organisations.
* Demonstrated experience coordinating social services programs to deliver agreed outcomes within timeframes and budget.
* Excellent communication skills for working sensitively with communities, families, children and young people.
Desirable Criteria
* Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
* Experience working for an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.
