We have the opportunity for an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team.
Key responsibilities in the role of Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic…
* Undertake structured on-the-job training while completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
* Develop the skills and knowledge required to perform maintenance, servicing, and repair tasks on Council's fleet of heavy vehicles, ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and operational standards.
What we offer...
* Temporary full-time role, 38 hours per week inclusive of your attendance of classes
* Weekly pay in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award
(your rate of pay will be in accordance with your age and the highest level of schooling completed)
* Plus 12 % superannuation
* Structured training and support throughout your apprenticeship.
What you'll need to be successful in the role...
* Completion of Year 10 School Certificate, or equivalent practical work-related experience
* Basic literacy, numeracy, and digital skills sufficient to meet the learning and workplace requirements of the apprenticeship program
* Demonstrated commitment to completing a full four-year Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Apprenticeship, including participation in all required training and practical learning activities
* Willingness to develop sound knowledge of WHS
* The ability to follow instructions and learn from experienced team members, contributing positively to a collaborative and safety-focused workshop environment
* Capacity to meet the physical demands of the role
* Possession of a current White Card or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
* Possession of a current Class C driver's licence or actively working towards obtaining one.
