The Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (DYHS), established in 1974, is the largest Aboriginal community-controlled health service provider in Western Australia. It provides care to over 20,000 Aboriginal patients across four clinics in East Perth, Mirrabooka, Maddington, and Midland. Our staff deliver culturally responsive primary health services, focusing on prevention, early intervention, comprehensive care, and care coordination, including chronic disease management.

About The Position
This role primarily involves greeting and registering clients, answering phones, liaising with staff regarding client attendance, and inputting client details into the Health Booking and Records System. We are seeking experienced Medical Receptionists for two part-time, maximum-term positions for two years from the start date.
Responsibilities

Register clients and maintain their details on the Communicare System.
Ensure client information is current and accurate.
Liaise with staff regarding client attendance.
Generate and process attendance documents and labels.
Operate and maintain the label printer.
Manage Medicare or online patient Medicare/concession cards.
Lock/unlock the clinic and operate security systems as required.
Record incoming mail and faxes.
Handle LOGICQC tasks as requested.
Order and manage stationaries and supplies.
Manage mail and record patient pathology and reports.
Scan and record patient records and forms.
Handle postage and ensure the reception area is tidy.
Attend to calls and ensure hygiene standards are met.
Make appointments and liaise with transport coordinators.
Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to accreditation standards.
Perform other duties as assigned and train relief staff.
Participate in performance reviews and skill development.

Selection Criteria
Essential

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status as per section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act.
Understanding of basic medical terminology.
Experience in Medical Reception or similar roles.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
High accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to manage client inquiries and issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Desirable

Formal qualifications in Medical Reception or related fields.
Knowledge of OHS, IR, and EEO legislation.
Knowledge of MBS/Medicare.
Two years of relevant work experience.

Current WA Driver's License
