Hancock Energy has a full-time prospect for a Senior Development Geologist to join a growing team supporting onshore oil and gas projects throughout Western Australia.
This opportunity is within the subsurface team, responsible for delivery of exploration and development geology works required in support of prospect evaluation, field appraisal, well planning, development planning and field production
Key Responsibilities
- Provide relevant geological input into subsurface work scopes and build geocellular models in support of Hancock Energy appraisal and field development activities
- Collaborate with team members to mature opportunities to drillable status
- Support subsurface team with reservoir geology knowledge and provide input into core analysis programs in collaboration with petrophysicists
- Lead geoscience studies such as sequence stratigraphy, structural geology, reservoir characterisation, geochemistry and petrology
- Integrate knowledge and results from subsurface studies into static and dynamic modelling workflows
- Work collaboratively with geophysicists to integrate seismic interpretations including faults, horizons and attributes into structural frameworks
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers in the development of field drainage plans to support field development planning and key investment decisions
- Conduct deterministic and probabilistic resource volumetric estimations
- Undertake static uncertainty and sensitivity evaluations in resource estimations
- Partake in peer reviews and risking sessions
- Provide relevant geological input into the development of reservoir management & field development plans
- Work collaboratively with reservoir engineers for dynamic modelling integration
- Own the subsurface development of field drainage plans to support field development planning and key investment decisions
- Contribute to exploration, appraisal and development well planning activities, drilling, geological and formation evaluation programs
Requirements
- Significant industry experience (15 yrs+) in development geology, reservoir geology & static modelling roles with excellent understanding of reservoir characterisation and representation of geological data in static and dynamic geological models
- Good knowledge of structural geology in construction of structural frameworks
- Broad knowledge of clastic sedimentary and depositional analogues, reservoir architecture modelling and variography
- Strong knowledge of sedimentology, including stratigraphy, provenance, and their representation in facies modelling
- Strong work history in reservoir geology
- Working knowledge of image log interpretation and core description
- Experienced in Routine and Special Core Analysis workflows and interpretation of results
- Strong reservoir geology knowledge including core and log integration and upscaling
- Petrophysical property modelling and strong data analysis skills
- Proficient in use of scripts and workflows
- Proficient in static to dynamic workflow integration
- Strong knowledge of static and dynamic reservoir modelling including reservoir engineering concepts
- Experienced in characterisation of geological uncertainties
- Good knowledge of SPE-PRMS resource classification and its practical application
- Experienced user of industry-standard geological workflows and software; e.g. SLB Petrel Suite, Kingdom, REP, Geolog etc.
- Strong data analysis and data management skills
