* $94, $98,910.82 gross per annum, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
* This is a Permanent Full time position based at our gorgeous Principal Depot in Charlton.

About the Parks & Recreation Branch

The Parks & Recreation Team are the secret behind the Toowoomba Region's beautiful parks and gardens. With over 7000 hectares of public gardens, bushland park, sports and recreation facilities and other open space and an extensive urban forest, the Toowoomba region is well known for its liveability and green infrastructure. The Parks and Recreation Services Branch is responsible for planning, developing and maintaining our beautiful green infrastructure, some of which is heritage listed, and keeping up with the strong growth across the region. The team is a diverse mix of approximately 200 people working as labourers, gardeners, arborists, horticulturalists, plant operators, rangers, cleaners, project managers, landscape architects, administrators, regulators and their managers and leaders.

About the Position

The Urban Forest Policy Officer is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing support of Council's policies, strategies, and initiatives relating to parks and the urban forest across the region. This role plays a key part in ensuring the sustainable management, enhancement, and protection of public green spaces and tree assets within both natural and urban environments.

The Officer will provide high-level strategic and technical advice on a range of complex issues, including development applications, planning proposals, vegetation management, and urban greening. They will work closely with internal teams, including planning, environment, and asset management, as well as liaise with external stakeholders such as developers, community groups, government agencies, and consultants.

This position will work under general direction.
