Foxleigh Mine is located 15 km south of Middlemount, approximately 275 km northwest of Rockhampton, in Queensland's Bowen Basin coalfield. Operating since **** as an open-cut mine, it produces benchmark quality LV PCI coal for the export market and premium PCI metallurgical coal for steel manufacturing. About the Role
Join the Foxleigh Mine Geology team as we continue to grow We're seeking motivated Mine Geologists eager to expand their operational and technical capabilities within one of the most geologically complex deposits in the Australian coal industry. Reporting directly to the Senior Geologist, you will play a key role in supporting safe, efficient, and well-informed mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
In-Pit Geological Control & Communication – complete daily coal face inspections to verify geology, identify variations, and support the mining plan; communicate real-time geological information to coaling operators and production teams; highlight upcoming geological challenges (faults, splits, washouts, thinning, intrusions, trenching, oxidation limits) to enable proactive decision-making.
Coaling Planning & Documentation – prepare and distribute blast-by-blast coaling plans with accurate, current geological data, including flitch tonnage estimates; support effective execution of these plans, adjusting guidance as conditions change; maintain clear, accurate records of mined areas, observations, and reconciliation data.
Stockpile Management & Forecasting – monitor ROM and ex-pit stockpiles, ensuring accurate tonnage and quality tracking; provide reliable daily and short-term stockpile forecasts to support processing and market requirements.
Short-Term Geological Modelling – assist with downhole data acquisition, interpretation and modelling; support the development and maintenance of in-situ and ROM block models (HARP).
Geotechnical Delegation & Slope Management – report geotechnical hazards immediately to the Technical Services Superintendent and Geotechnical Engineer; communicate geotechnical recommendations and TARP levels to operations and ensure compliance; maintain Slope Stability Radars (SSR) and implement geotechnical trigger actions promptly.
About You
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
Proven experience in a coal mining environment, preferably with direct exposure to in-pit through-seam coaling, production support, and familiarity with basic geotechnical principles.
