Acute General Medicine Specialist
We are seeking a skilled and experienced specialist to join our Acute General Medicine unit at John Hunter Hospital.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing patients with acute medical conditions, streamlining admission and discharge processes, and reducing pressure on the Emergency Department (ED) and inpatient wards.
Key Responsibilities
* Patient Assessment and Management: Rapid evaluation of undifferentiated medical presentations and development of effective treatment plans.
* Clinical Decision-Making: Determining admission, discharge, or transfer to specialty units based on patient needs.
* Leadership and Collaboration: Supervising junior doctors, coordinating with nursing staff, and liaising with allied health professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
* Education and Training: Supporting medical education for junior medical officers (JMOs) and registrars.
Requirements of the Role
* A primary medical degree registered with AHPRA and General Medicine Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians
* Recent and comprehensive experience in Acute General Medicine and in a tertiary level MACU team
* Experience in programs for improving the organisation and delivery of care in Acute General Medicine
