OverviewCustomer Service Officer role at Careers at Council, Colac, Victoria.
This is a Permanent Full-Time position.As Customer Service Officer you will ensure that Council provides an efficient and responsive service, serving residents and customers with information about Council services and processes, and delivering a customer service experience aligned with Council values and best practice standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide a friendly, courteous and responsive central point of contact for customer enquiries, transactions and requests.Respond to enquiries on designated aspects of the Council's operations or direct complex and technical enquiries to appropriate departments.Accurately register and record customer requests using a range of computer systems, including a Customer Request System and a Record Management System.Perform administration and cashiering duties under supervision, including receipting, reconciliation and banking using the Financial Management System.Proactively advise and recommend online services and information to residents and customers.Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and exceptional customer service.Answer and screen all phone calls, assisting, connecting or transferring inbound calls efficiently.About YouDemonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills for working as part of a team, with minimal supervision, using initiative in a fast-paced environment.Have excellent communication skills and demonstrated problem-solving abilities.Show sound administration and clerical experience including cash handling and reconciliation.Have excellent customer service skills with experience in Reception and Call Centre operations.Have well-developed computer literacy, including experience with databases, Customer Request Management technology and other software programs.Demonstrate the ability to think laterally to source accurate information quickly and effectively.Salary and Application DetailsSalary information: $67,226.64 to $70,836.48 per annum plus superannuation.Applications close on Tuesday 9 September 2025 at 11.59pm.How to ApplyDownload and review the Position Description including the Key Selection Criteria.Include with your application: Letter of application, Current resume, Key Selection Criteria responses.Submit your application.Contact for Further InformationIf you have any questions relating to the position, please contact Paul Constantinidis, Team Leader Customer Service, on 03 5232 9400 for a confidential conversation.Andrew TenniChief Executive OfficerColac Otway Shire Council is a child-safe organisation and is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
