The Role: This is for a full-time Accountant-General role with the following duties and responsibilities,
The Responsibilities:
- Prepare quarter-end and year-end Company Tax Returns for compliance with statutory requirements.
- Preparing quarter-end and year-end financial reports, including Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements.
- Effectively manage and resolve tax disputes with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to protect the company's interests.
- Preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS), doing GST calculation and reporting material changes to the ATO.
- Assisting in the formulation of accounting and budgetary policies for the business.
- Overseeing general ledger and journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Preparing detailed business reports for audit purposes and collaborating with external auditors to address queries during the audit process.
- Examining income and expenditure for construction projects, including job costing, subcontractor claims, and project performance.
- Supporting financial planning efforts aimed at minimizing tax liabilities.
- Introducing and maintaining accounting systems, including implementation and usage of systems like Databuild.
- Maintain organized financial records through proper backup procedures for easy access and reference.
- Supervising the reconciliation of monthly bank statements for all company accounts and reviewing data related to expenses, net worth, and assets.
- Managing daily cash flow activities, including account tracking, payroll, and budgeting.
- Preparing periodic management reports and financial dashboards to assist senior management in financial planning and cost control.
- Coordinating with the senior management to keep firm operational costs under control to boost productivity and boost corporate profits.
The Requirements:
- At least bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen to understand the dynamics of a complex evolving industry.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience with particular attention to detail.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Must have experience working with Databuild & Xero accounting software system.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers and subject matter experts.
- Detail oriented, ability to multitask, work independently and priorities tasks.
- Proven track record of increased responsibilities and scope.
- Ability to independently resolve complex problems where analysis requires the in-depth evaluation of numerous factors.

HVAC is seeking a GENERAL ACCOUNTANT to join their team of professionals on a full-time and permanent basis.
Job Location: Redbank Queensland.
To be considered for this role you will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting.
- Experience in payroll and industrial accounting.
- Well developed MS Excel skills, in particular, well rounded experience with spreadsheets.
- Working knowledge of Pronto.
- Understanding of Modern Awards and their application.
Your responsibilities and duties for this role will include but not be limited to the following:
- Assist with the company’s reporting and reconciliations (daily, weekly and monthly) including financial reports for presentation to CEO, CFO and other relevant parties.
- Assist with documentation in relation to retentions.
- Assist in maintaining the asset register for the purposes of depreciation, asset management and capital planning in accordance with legislation, accountability frameworks and the organisation’s objectives.
- Participate in the annual internal and external auditing processes to ensure that appropriate systems are in place and maintained.
- Preparation and review of data and balances (to ensure appropriate management approval) of timesheets to process payroll.
- Cost out the hours through Pronto.
- Credit Cards – process transactions, control accounts and reconcile when the statement is issued.
- Send invoices for approval.
- Setup all current creditors and ensure documentation is completed including Creditor retention process.
- Strictly adhere to processes and practices under HVAC’s document control system in all work performed, participate in quality audit and quality improvement activities as required and adopt a quality focus in all work activities undertaken.
- Monitoring emails – actioning payable and payroll emails with a 24 hour turn around.
- Ad hoc finance administration projects as required by the Financial Controller or CFO.

- Tax Compliance: Lodge BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax, and Superannuation returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
- Management Reporting: Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and half-yearly reports, providing management with clear insights into the business’s financial performance.
- Audit Support: Prepare audit documentation and assist with financial investigations as needed.
- Cost Control: Support management by identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and streamline financial processes.
- GST & STP: Prepare and submit monthly GST reports to the ATO via Single Touch Payroll (STP).
- Payroll Compliance: Ensure accurate payroll data, ensuring compliance with award rates and legislative changes, and managing employee superannuation.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with management to draft and implement new accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and ensure compliance.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in an accounting role.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero or MYOB or similar.
- Strong understanding of tax compliance, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
