Richers Transport is a long-established, family-owned business proudly servicing Queensland's freight and logistics sector since 1935. Our Brisbane operations play a key role in delivering general freight throughout the Wide Bay region, and we're currently seeking an experienced Freight Allocator to join our team based in Maryborough.
This is a full-time role responsible for planning and allocating general freight collections in Brisbane and surrounding areas, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant use of our fleet.
About the Role:
As Freight Allocator, you'll be responsible for coordinating general freight pickups and deliveries by assigning tasks to drivers, optimising daily schedules, and maintaining compliance with national transport regulations. Your ability to adapt quickly, solve problems on the go, and communicate effectively will be key to ensuring smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Allocate Brisbane general freight tasks to drivers
* Plan collections and deliveries to maximise fleet productivity
* Monitor and adjust allocations throughout the day to respond to workload changes or delays
* Ensure all movements comply with national fatigue management and mass requirements
* Maintain accurate records of job allocations, driver hours, and vehicle movements
* Liaise with drivers, internal teams, and customers to ensure clear and timely communication
* Support fleet operations with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and service delivery
About You:
* Previous experience in fleet allocation or a background in transport operations/truck driving is highly regarded
* Solid knowledge of fatigue laws, mass limits, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Calm and focused under pressure, with a practical, solution-oriented approach
* Confident using transport systems and basic IT tools
* Positive, dependable, and team-oriented
