The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia.
It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people and is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.
Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure, providing these services across all disciplines and functions for this capital project.
Job Summary
In this role you will plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, produce 3D models, drawings, and documentation, and prepare design estimates.
You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries, solve complex technical issues, and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.
Major Responsibilities
Lead or administer the work of PD&P designers and drafters, preparing layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D CAD design models, and construction drawings.
Develop designs for complete and complex 3-D model equipment layouts and pipe designs with minimal supervision.
Prepare or assist with material requisitions and bid evaluations.
Monitor and check work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards.
Participate in constructability reviews.
Prepare design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort.
Coordinate or perform job-site visits to resolve problems and interpret drawings.
Review PD&P design scope changes for project management.
Prepare reports of work progress for project and discipline use.
Ensure PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree or advanced diploma (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Experienced with mechanical equipment 3D modelling and drawing production using Autodesk Inventor and MicroStation.
Familiar with the layout, design development, 3D modelling and drawing production of typical mechanical equipment within mining and metals projects, emphasizing materials handling equipment such as conveyors, bins, chutes, feeders, hoppers, mills, and lifting equipment.
