Role Description

This full-time Senior .Net Software Engineer role for a desirable Government Department is based preferably in Canberra with hybrid working arrangements. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining back-end software and scalable solutions, writing efficient code using .Net technologies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance application functionality. The role involves troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, adhering to system design principles, and ensuring high-quality performance.
Key duties and responsibilities
.Net Developers will be responsible for, but not limited, to:
Participating in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to develop and enhance a C# based, n-tier, enterprise software and associated documentation in accordance with AEC Standards.
Developing automated application build and deployment scripts using .NET (Framework and modern .NET), and the broader Microsoft technology stack.
Following the Agile Methodology for software development using tools such as Azure DevOps.
Liaising with technical and business area staff to facilitate the rapid resolution of issues and/or faults within fielded production.
Providing analysis on complex issues and contributing to the management, preparation, and coordination of policy formulation and/or project management.
Developing and supporting key internal and external relationships, including managing stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals and represent the agency by promoting its interests in various forums.
Providing accurate specialist advice, guidance, and reporting on team functional responsibilities.
Making and communicating decisions using good judgement, expertise, and knowledge, governed by legislation, regulations, best practice principles or relevant operating instructions and procedures.
Contributing to doctrine, election preparation and delivery activities in accordance with the election readiness framework, according to individual accountabilities and responsibilities.
Perform additional responsibilities as required and directed by the relevant Director/Team Leader or delegate.
Specific Requirements
· Demonstrated practical experience applying Agile software development methodologies and producing associated documentation.
· Proficient with Visual Studio for development, debugging and project tasks.
· Proven backend development experience building Web APIs and working with SQL-based databases and data-access technologies.
· Demonstrated understanding and practical application of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
· Strong experience creating and maintaining automated build and deployment scripts for .NET Framework and modern .NET.
· Demonstrated experience developing cloud-based applications and services.
· Ability to produce well-designed, documented, maintainable and testable code.
· Active participation in peer review processes for code and scripts to maintain quality and standards.
· Proven ability to set priorities, manage competing demands and deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
· Effective communicator who anticipates stakeholder needs and manages expectations across geographically dispersed teams.
· Strong analytical skills with experience proposing and facilitating change and contributing to business improvement initiatives.
· Demonstrated personal and professional integrity when delivering results within legislative, policy and governance constraints.
Proficient with common IT and project tools, including Microsoft Office, Azure DevOps and collaboration/mapping tools such as Miro (or equivalent).
