Who we're looking for
Our Global Construction Services (GCS) strategic business unit is looking for a project accountant who will be responsible for supporting project accounting, month‐end close and financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills and experience in project accounting. We also value integrity, team spirit and strong organizational skills.
What you'll do
* Facilitate month‐end close
o Audit project cost projections and report on variances and revenue recognition
o Support Google reporting requirements
o Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
o Work with Atkore management team to develop management package
o Accurately report intercompany and third‐party transactions
* Report and record forecasts
o Maintain rolling forecast and prepare annual budgets
o Work closely with operations team
o Manage inventory reporting and valuation
o Update projections as purchase orders are received and change orders are issued
* Develop reports and KPIs to track and monitor project activity
o Establish floor‐based KPIs
o Support Google reporting requirements
o CER process
* Manage working capital requirements
o Ensure 3‐way match of PO, receipt and invoice for materials
o Maintain accurate inventory of Atkore and owner‐supplied materials
o Track all insurance, including site‐specific insurance documents
o Prepare commercial invoices for international shipping
o Ensure invoices are paid on time (AR)
o Manage cash‐flow reporting
* Ensure compliance with local reporting authorities
o Timeliness of local tax returns
o Local payroll compliance for small team
o Manage banking relationships with Group Treasury
o Manage relationships with local auditors (Tax & Accounting)
o Overall branch management with support from local EY team
What you'll bring
* Bachelor's degree in accounting / finance qualification
* 3–5 years of experience in a project‐based role, preferably in construction or manufacturing
* Strong problem‐solving and analytical skills with flexibility and adaptability to change
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Experience in multi‐state projects a plus
Within 3 months, you'll
* Complete your Atkore immersion program
* Develop relationships with key stakeholders (internal & external)
* Learn the fundamentals of our company's internal software and processes
* Take full ownership over recurring journal entries and reconciliations
Within 6‐months, you'll
* Take full ownership of project reporting, forecasting, analysis and audits
* Assist controller with creation of ad‐hoc financial reportsAssist controller with analysis and reporting of balance‐sheet fluctuations
Within 12‐months, you'll
* Be subject‐matter expert in your processes
* Provide suggestions for improvement to current processes that pertain to your responsibilities
* Become an integral member of the local Atkore team
