Family Support Specialist
As a Family Support Specialist, you will be working with children and families to create a safe and secure environment. Your role will involve supporting carers and birth parents to meet the needs of their children, while also promoting family connection and identity.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct assessments and develop plans to support children and families.
* Work collaboratively with case management teams to ensure that family placement options are explored and supported.
* Provide guidance and support to carers and birth parents to help them meet the needs of their children.
* Engage with clients, including children, young people, and their families, using appropriate assessment and risk mitigation strategies.
* Facilitate transparent communication by openly sharing client plans with clients and relevant agencies.
* Coordinate with various service providers to ensure comprehensive support delivery.
Requirements:
* A minimum 2 years' experience working with children and families addressing child protection concerns or within OOHC identifying and managing risk through trauma-informed practice.
* A degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related subject.
* Be comfortable working with and supporting individuals and families where there has been an identified risk.
* Using strong analytical skills to evidence and communicate both verbally and in writing.
* Be confident to have difficult conversations in a sensitive and appropriate way.
* Have the capacity to engage with people from all walks of life and adapt to changing circumstances.
* Ability to work flexibly in varying locations, including occasional weekend and evening work.
* Hold a current driver's licence.
* Accreditation and experience in using assessment tools is desirable.
