Both hospitals are accredited for 2 years of advanced training, with the third year flexible across facilities or with non-core terms. We have established links with Mental Health, Palliative Care, and Neurology for non-core training. Trainees receive strong support from Geriatricians and the Research Office for project completion.Our department is small, approachable, and friendly, with supervisors and mentors dedicated to your growth. CCLHD Geriatric Medicine leads nationally in Delirium Services, Advance Care Planning, and multi-disciplinary dementia care. We offer a comprehensive education program, including journal clubs, interdisciplinary meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.Geriatric Medicine training at CCLHD is also accredited for General Medicine, Intensive Care, and Rehabilitation. GP trainees are welcome for non-core terms. Flexible, part-time, and job-share positions may be available.Gosford Hospital: The principal referral and trauma center for the Central Coast, with over 500 beds, recently expanded with a new emergency department, ICU, nuclear medicine, and other facilities.Wyong Hospital: An acute hospital with over 300 beds, recently expanded to include a new emergency department, ICU, pediatric unit, and other services.In partnership with the University of Newcastle, the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute on the Gosford campus offer additional training and research opportunities.
