Your new company
A well-established, asset intensive organisation operating critical public infrastructure across the ACT is seeking a skilled GIS professional to join their Asset Information function. This organisation plays a key role in supporting everyday community services and long-term sustainability through data-driven decision-making and modern spatial systems. You'll be joining a collaborative, technically capable team that values data integrity, continuous improvement, and practical outcomes.
Your new role
As a GIS Officer, you'll be responsible for maintaining and enhancing spatial datasets and GIS systems that support large-scale infrastructure networks. Your work will directly inform operational planning, asset maintenance, emergency response, and regulatory reporting.
You'll collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and planning teams to ensure asset and network changes are accurately captured, analysed, and visualised. The role also offers the opportunity to uplift GIS capability through improved workflows, tools, and data quality standards. This is a 12‐month contract based in Canberra (Mitchell), working standard business hours.
What you'll need to succeed
* A degree or diploma in GIS, Spatial Information Systems, or a related discipline
* Demonstrated experience providing GIS services to internal stakeholders
* Strong hands-on experience with ESRI ArcGIS, including ArcGIS Online and field data collection tools
* Experience managing spatial databases, feature classes, and datasets with high accuracy
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate spatial insights for non-technical audiences
* Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team
* A current ACT Driver Licence
Highly regarded but not essential:
* Experience in utilities, infrastructure, or asset‐intensive environments
* Exposure to GIS workflow improvement, automation, or enterprise system integration
What you'll get in return
* A secure 12‐month contract with potential for extension
* The opportunity to work on critical infrastructure data with real community impact
* A collaborative technical environment with strong stakeholder engagement
* Exposure to enterprise‐scale GIS systems and asset information platforms
* Competitive contract rate aligned to market experience
