Trade Assistant / Machine Operator (Steel Manufacturing) – Full Time
Day & Afternoon Shifts Available | $28 – $33.50 p/h | Immediate Start
Our client is a well-established supplier of precision shafts used in mining, conveyor systems, and fixed plant machinery. They are seeking a reliable and experienced Trade Assistant / Machine Operator to join their growing team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with steel industry experience looking for long-term, stable employment.
About the Role As a Trade Assistant / Machine Operator, you will support workshop operations and assist in the processing and handling of steel components. Duties include:
* Operation of overhead cranes
* Forklift driving and materials handling
* Use of bandsaws for steel cutting
* Operating stackers
* Utilising basic hand tools
* General labouring and manual handling
What We're Looking For To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Proven experience in the steel or similar heavy industry
* Hands-on experience with:
o Overhead cranes (essential)
o Forklifts (required licence preferred)
o Bandsaws and cutting tools
o Stackers and general workshop equipment
* Strong understanding of safe manual handling practices
* Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
* Experience in mining, fixed plant, or similar sectors highly regarded
* "Like-for-like" company experience preferred
Shifts & Pay
* Day Shift: 6:00am – 2:00pm
* Afternoon Shift: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
o (Afternoon shift candidates must complete approx. 2 weeks training on day shift)
Pay Rate: $28 – $33.50 per hour (based on experience)
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
