About the opportunity
Help position Inland Rail for success by building high trust relationships across Federal, Queensland, NSW and local government agencies, shaping government priorities and frameworks, and steering complex agreements that enable project delivery. You'll spot emerging political and regulatory risks early and coordinate smart, proactive engagement to keep the program moving.
What you'll do
* Establish and manage relationships across key government agencies to progress Inland Rail's objectives and secure enabling agreements.
* Anticipate and identify emerging political/regulatory issues and coordinate the engagement strategy.
* Support engagement with Ministerial offices alongside the Corporate Affairs Manager.
* Develop and deliver relationship Management Plans that ensure consistent messaging and effective collaboration.
* Partner across Corporate Affairs/Media and project teams to align stakeholder activity with program goals, including collaboration with industry groups and advocacy bodies.
What you'll bring
* Proven success working in or with government (ideally including experience in a Minister's or MP's office), and strong networks or the ability to build them across QLD/NSW public sectors.
* Track record in issues management and navigating government/regulatory processes for complex programs (infrastructure/transport preferred).
* Strategic thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
* Excellent written/oral communication, negotiation and stakeholder influence.
* Ability to translate complex information quickly into targeted briefs/key messages. proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word/PowerPoint).
Nice to have
* Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., law, political science, program management).
* Sector experience (infrastructure, transport, environment or logistics) and understanding of a GBE environment.
* Experience and knowledge gained in the development of rail infrastructure or similar.
