Regent's Park Healthcare is looking for an Healthcare Assistant to join their team at Cambridge Heart Clinic on a bank contract basis.
Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will support the smooth and efficient delivery of outpatient cardiology clinics at the Cambridge Heart Clinic.
As a bank worker, the postholder will provide safe, high-quality patient care, support clinicians during appointments, and ensure clinic areas remain organised and prepared.
Applicants must already be competent in performing 12-lead ECGs.
Training will be provided for additional skills, including the application of ambulatory cardiac monitors, so prior experience with these is not required.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Duties
Act as a chaperone during outpatient consultations, examinations, and diagnostic tests.
Perform 12-lead ECGs independently and to a high clinical standard (essential requirement).
Apply ambulatory cardiac monitoring devices (e.g., Holter monitors) training provided; no prior experience required.
Record basic clinical observations (BP, pulse, SpO, height, weight) as required.
Prepare clinic rooms and equipment, ensuring they are clean, safe, and fully stocked.
Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards.
Support clinicians during procedures within your agreed competencies.
Escort and reassure patients throughout their clinic visit.
Operational & Administrative Duties
Welcome, check-in, and support patients through their pathway.
Assist in managing patient flow to maintain efficient clinic operations.
Document clinical information accurately, following CHC and RPH guidelines.
Support consumable stock checks and escalate equipment issues promptly.
Maintain clean, tidy, and well-organised outpatient environments.
Participate in annual mandatory training and maintain required competencies.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT
Due to contractual arrangements with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH):
Applicants must NOT hold a substantive or bank post at CUH.
We are unable to accept applications from individuals employed by CUH in any capacity.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Full training will be provided for ambulatory monitoring.
Uniform and mandatory training will be supplied.
An Enhanced DBS check is required.
Opportunities to take bank shifts across CHC outpatient services as activity allows.
WORKING PATTERN
Variable hours dependent on clinic schedules and activity levels.
Shifts may include:
Daytime clinics (e.g. 08:*****:*******:*****:00)
Evening clinics (e.g. 17:*****:00 or later)
Weekend (Saturday) sessions (mornings, afternoons and full days).
Flexibility is essential.
Person Specification
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES
Experience as a Healthcare Assistant or clinical support worker in a healthcare setting.
Competency and experience in performing 12-lead ECGs (required at application stage).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassionate, professional, and patient-focused approach.
Ability to work flexibly in line with clinic activity.
Good organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Experience working in outpatient or cardiology services.
Experience in applying ambulatory cardiac monitors (training will be provided if not).
Awareness of infection control, safeguarding, and manual handling principles.
