James Meehan High School is a community based comprehensive secondary school with a population of approximately 420 students situated at Macquarie Fields. The school is culturally diverse with 29 cultural groups represented, across 27 language backgrounds. 50% of students have a language background other than English. 32% of students are from a Pacific Islander background, while another 14% are Indigenous. The school provides the opportunity to engage students from low socio economic status communities through a variety of high-quality programs including literacy development, student support, technology and quality teaching. We have strong welfare programs and community involvement including proactive links with our Indigenous communities. Specific Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 1. Evidence of highly developed organisational and management skills, with a demonstrated ability to connect with all key stakeholders to effectively support staff and students in their learning, in the pursuit of whole school priorities and targets. 2. Outstanding communication skills with the demonstrated capacity to contribute to building and strengthening a collaborative learning culture across the school.
3. Demonstrated experience and expertise in leading the development and implementation of innovative and differentiated teaching and learning programs and quality assessments designed to engage and support students with diverse ability levels and learning needs, including HPGE.
4. Demonstrated capacity to analyse data to enhance student outcomes aligned with the school excellence framework and to implement improvement strategies, using SCOUT and SPaRO data.
General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3.
