About The Role
As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the Dental Assistant provides chairside assistance to dentists and oral health professionals, ensuring high‐quality patient care and efficient dental procedures. The role supports infection control protocols, prepares treatment rooms, manages patient records, and delivers a positive patient experience. The Dental Assistant is responsible for providing culturally safe and responsive care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, ensuring their health needs are met in a respectful and inclusive manner.
Duties
* Assist dentists during procedures, pass instruments, and prepare materials.
* Maintain sterilisation of instruments and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
* Support patients before, during, and after procedures; provide post‐treatment instructions.
* Provide culturally safe and respectful care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.
* Monitor and maintain supplies (inventory), ensuring the treatment room is clean and ready.
* Update patient records and assist with appointment scheduling.

* Base salary of $64,730 per annum pro‐rata (based on qualification and experience).

Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a Covid‐19 vaccine is encouraged.
Skills and Experiences
Required
* Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (or working towards completion).
* 2+ years experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment.
* Knowledge of infection control protocols and sterilisation procedures.
* National Police Certificate.
* Working with Children's Blue Card.
* Evidence of Work Rights.
* Flexibility in task performance and work location (dental surgery).
Preferred
* Experience using dental practice management software – Exact.
* Experience in a community health or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health setting.
* Knowledge of Medicare, Child Dental Benefits Schedule, and private health fund processing.
* Ability to assist with administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling and patient recalls.
* Radiation License (for assisting with X‐rays).
