Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Motor Mechanic (General) to join our
professional team in a clean, modern workshop environment. The role involves
diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining passenger vehicles in accordance with
manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and industry best practice.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
* Conducting thorough inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, or
electronic faults in vehicles
* Dismantling, repairing, or replacing engines, transmissions, and other vehicle
components as needed
* Performing routine servicing and preventative maintenance to maintain optimal
vehicle performance
* Replacing worn or damaged parts such as brakes, suspension, steering, and
exhaust systems
* Adjusting, calibrating, and tuning engines and systems to meet manufacturer
specifications
* Using diagnostic tools and software to pinpoint issues and verify repairs
* Testing vehicles after servicing to ensure safety and proper operation
* Maintaining accurate records of work performed, parts used, and service
outcomes
* Keeping workshop areas, tools, and equipment organised, safe, and well-
maintained
* Collaborating with colleagues and management to resolve technical issues
efficiently
Skills Required
* Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Proficiency with vehicle diagnostic tools and electronic fault-finding systems
* Experience in servicing and repairing a range of passenger vehicles; European
vehicle experience preferred
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service
instructions
* Skilled in dismantling, repairing, and reassembling complex vehicle
components
* Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
* Strong organisational and time-management skills
* Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with colleagues
and management
* Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient workspace
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Minimum Education & Experience
* Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent trade
qualification
* Minimum 1 year of full-time, post-qualification experience as a Motor
Mechanic
* Experience servicing and repairing passenger vehicles; European vehicle
experience preferred
