Details: The Public Sector Management Branch plays a critical role in maintaining and modernising the ACT Public Service employment framework. We deliver contemporary policies and frameworks that enable an agile, capable, and citizen-focussed workforce for today and the future.
We are seeking two highly motivated and experienced leaders to join our team as Senior Director, Public Sector Employment Framework. This is an exciting opportunity to influence strategic workforce policy at the highest level.
About the role
As Senior Director, you will:
* Provide high-level strategic and operational advice on employment, workforce strategy, and legislative matters.
* Represent the Directorate and Government in complex workplace relations and policy discussions.
* Mentor and guide a small, collaborative team to deliver quality outputs under tight timeframes.
* Build strong relationships with senior executives and stakeholders across government.
* Ensure integrity, confidentiality, and alignment with ACTPS values in all aspects of your work.

We need someone who can demonstrate:
* Deep understanding of public sector employment frameworks, legislation, and policy—or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
* Proven experience in policy development, legislative reform, and preparation of high-level briefs and submissions.
* Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with sound judgment under pressure.

Notes: There are one permanent and one temporary full-time positions available. The temporary position is available from 23 February 2026 until 22 February 2027 with the possibility of permanency.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
