There is an opportunity to step into a Level 4 Unit Head Dietitian position on a temporary full time basis for 12months at the Wollongong Hospital. An eligibility list will be created from this recruitment to appoint to other temporary full-time and part-time Level 4 Dietitian Unit Head positions across the district.

This is a temporary full-time maternity relief position from 14 October 2024 until 28 September 2025, with the possibility of an extension at same or reduced hours.

We are seeking Dietitians with experience in operational management, who demonstrate values that would be aligned with managing a busy workforce, creating positive team culture and supporting staff to meet goals and department expectations. The Wollongong Hospital Dietitian Unit Head reports directly to the Director of Nutrition and Dietetics and is strategic in implementing directives in the department, alongside the wider Dietetic management team in the district.

**What you'll be doing**

The Unit Head is responsible for the professional leadership, guidance and line management of a clinical unit with more than 5 and up to 10 staff.

The Unit Head is responsible for the provision of an effective clinical service within their clinical caseload. They will demonstrate advanced reasoning skills and will be responsible for providing a very high expert level consultancy to staff within the ISLHD.

This position will provide clinical supervision and support to level one to six clinical professionals, technical and support staff in relation to clinical standards of practice and service delivery.

This position will assist the ISLHD Head of Discipline in managing and directing the delivery of services, clinical redesign, human resources management and financial analysis.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven's major referral and teaching hospital and has bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

This role is a **Category A **role. Preferred applicants will be reviewed for compliance and required to maintain compliance with the screening, assessment and vaccination requirements, relevant to your position, as outlined in NSW Health policy directive on Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases.

**Selection criteria**
- Eligible for membership in Dietitians Association of Australia.
- Extensive and current post graduate clinical experience.
- Experience and demonstrable competency in the operational coordination of staff within a team/unit.
- Excellent communication, organisation and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead and coordinate quality improvement and/or research programs.
- Current NSW Class C (or equivalent) driver's licence and ability to work across all sites within the ISLHD.
